Occupational burnout is a syndrome resulting from chronic work-related stress, characterized by "feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion; increased mental distance from one's job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one's job; and reduced professional efficacy". Wikipedia


In today's economy, more and more people are feeling the need to succeed in their careers and increase their income consequently. The pressure to succeed can be overwhelming, especially for professionals, leading to burnout.

It is a rare occasion that surgeons like to talk about the emotional toll after losing their patients. They don't always know what's best in these moments, so surgeons must find their coping method based on personal preference- whether it's talking things out until there are no more tears left over from sadness. Spending time alone comforting oneself by doing chores around the home, such as cooking meals or organizing books. Everybody knows these feelings will not go anywhere but will combine with similar feelings and affect personality and behavior unless they get professional help.
